'Save Our Summer' Campaign Launched by UK Travel And Tourism Sector

Restrictions are set to ease from the 8th of March, following the third lockdown that has been in place since the 6th of January. While nothing has yet been confirmed, a gradual loosening of lockdown could mean holidays could be back by Easter, though it is likely it will take place domestically.

This also comes as the UK tourism sector launches a campaign - Save Our Summer – as a call for a clear reopening map and to allow international holidays abroad. Currently the campaign has more than 500 companies who have joined.

The travel and tourism industry plays a significant role to the UK’s economy, where it was estimated that the industry contributed towards 217 billion pounds in the UK in 2016. The road map would support the 2.5 million jobs at risk in the UK Travel and Tourism sector, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council.
